This episode is about the GrAiNZ movement, a loose collective of growers, millers and bakers who want to turn the industrial farming and bread making industry up side down.
This group of people are self professed nerds, and their topic of interest is grains, specifically how they are grown, milled and turned into bread, that is, the grains economy.
As mentioned last time, when I went to Redbeards to interview John, his family and staff about how a small town bakery can epitomise everything so many people are working towards in sustainability – from localisation, community building and earth loving farming practices… One of my visits was specifically because a group of minded people from across Australia had descended.
In this episode you’ll hear from:
John Reid – Redbeard Bakery
James Fisher – Rock Paper Flour
Cesare – Dust Bakehouse
Maaryasha Werdiger – Zelda Bakery
Ian Lowe – APiece Bakery
Kim – The Bakehouse, Portland
James Partlington – Staple Bakery
