This is a collection of live shows, recorded events and other miscellaneous recordings that do not fit into the other seasons. This will be added to over time and some will be added retrospectively (from the archives).
Saltgrass has so far been fortunate to have had funding through grants from the Community Broadcasting Foundation. For the first five seasons this funding has supported the show to collect stories from my small town in regional Victoria. I was as surprised as anyone that there were that many stories to tell!
Then I got funded to cover a fun adventure over to WA and talk to citizen scientists in season 6 and while that was all in production I kept seeing all the interesting, cool and important stuff that was still happening locally. But I was trying really hard to stay focussed and I told people, ‘Sorry, I’m working on something else at the moment, I’ll be back to telling local stories soon’.
But actually, it looks like the next round of funding might be for a very specific project as well. And after that I’d like to travel again and collect stories from around Australia.
So, here is my compromise. I am going to keep sharing local stories here, in Season Seven. They are going to be collected and shared only if I have capacity and are outside of any funding commitments. But, Saltgrass has never been about the money. The money definitely makes it possible, but it is also done out of love and purpose. It is my activism, my contribution, my way of understanding and helping the climate movement.
